HORRIBLE NOISES

I bought this refrigerator in May 2020 and everything was fine for a few weeks but then the ice maker quit working. I scheduled an appointment and the repair guy came out and replaced the ice maker. The new ice maker was working fine and then out of nowhere it quit working again. Shortly after that... the NOISES began. Noises like I have never heard before. I could type several paragraphs but long story short... the same repair tech came to my house several times. He's a great guy and he did his best to get the problems fixed. He replaced the ice maker at least 4 times. Of course, the noises were never happening when he was here so I finally video recorded several examples for him. He was so stunned by the sounds that he called another tech over to my house so he could also hear the noises. They were both surprised by the noises and after running diagnostic tests they both agreed the right thing to do would be replace the fridge with a new one. They left my house sure they would be able to get me a new fridge. Well, apparently GE flat-out refused to replace the fridge. Instead, they sent the same guy out to replace several components. Here's the list copied directly from the receipt... (XWF Manifold & Tubing, Glide Bucket LH, Kit Harness Diode, Refrigerator Ice Maker Kit, Isolation Valve and Jumper, Board T Main SXS SS). Instead of replacing the fridge they spent hundreds of dollars throwing parts at it... and it STILL makes the most awful noises you've ever heard. People (myself included) can barely stand to sit in the kitchen or living room when the noises are happening (and it lasts for HOURS). I have to turn up the TV volume to drown out the loud fridge. At least the ice maker is still working. Other than the two repair techs (who I commend for trying their best) the only thing GE seemed interested in was selling me an extension on the warranty. You stick me with a total lemon of a refrigerator and then expect me to give you MORE money for a worthless warranty? Two lessons learned... never again buy a major appliance from Home Depot (they want nothing to do with you after you make the purchase) and stay far away from GE appliances. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to buy another refrigerator yet but when I can it will be from someone other than Home Depot and it will not be a GE product. I am very disappointed in both companies.

Would have rated much higher if not for the noise level when the compressor is on. The inner space is well designed for a small, low depth, refrigerator. Led lighting is nice. Freezer has good space.

Great fridge, but, very noisy. If you want a quiet kitchen steer clear. Also don't have installation by Home Depot. It will be a disaster.
