Decent Microwave

This is my 4th GE MW in this category over 25 years. Average life span 7-10 years with pretty high use. Each new model seems to be made flimsier/cheaper than previous model. Pros: This MW works well, heats fast, easy to operate. Nice looking MW. I always liked the Express cook and add 30 seconds feature. The turntable on/off switch is back (disappeared on my last one) and I like that feature. I think this new MW may be slightly quieter than my last one. I like the new "white light" larger clock display. Easy to read. The exhaust fan is very powerful if you have the model with 400cfm power boost option. Cons: I DO NOT LIKE THE DARK GRAY INTERIOR ON MY WHITE MW! Makes the inside very dark, and with a new light bulb inside that is ridiculously dim, its hard to see your food. Impossible to view food through the door while cooking. I would replace the bulb with higher intensity, but this is not a common bulb I can find anywhere.Interior light is useless as it is. As stated, this is not my first GE. I would be very helpful if GE would be consistent with mounting brackets and mounting hole locations. Each MW is different enough by a small amount to have to drill new holes for each MW mounting. My upper cabinet floor is starting to look like swiss cheese. It would be so easy to install, and less destructive to cabinets, if mount brackets, screw locations, were compatible. I did have the problem with exhaust fan not shutting off with the last model. Had to unplug unit to reset. Hope this is no longer an issue.

I hope you’re listening GE because you need to fix 2 things to an otherwise fine, high quality unit. Why do they put that ugly round logo obnoxiously right in the top center of the unit It looks like Cyclops. It just looks like a hole in the top of the door. What happened to the days when they used to put just a small painted logo discretely down in the corner? That would make it look a lot classier. It looks funny centered on the top because it looks like it would look better if it was centered on the door but then that would look funny too. They should have put it down in the left side corner. The other really bad thing is that the clock is way, way, way too bright. They should make it dimmable or not dimmable but 10 times dimmer. It will dilate your sleepy eyeballs if you go to the kitchen to get a drink of water at night and tick you right off. The only reason I didn’t return the unit was that I could turn the clock totally off and luckily I still have a clock on my stove. But I would prefer to still have the clock option on my microwave as well but with this one I don’t. As you can see in the photo my clock is turned off and there it will remain.

A Very Good Microwave

This is a very good microwave. The vent fan works well and is not horribly noisy like many over the range microwaves. The quick cook feature is good. I wish it had preprogrammed settings for cooking and reheating specific foods like my former Amana microwave had.

I've purchased GE microwaves for the past 30 years. They are one of the most reliable on the market with easy features. Recently moved and needed an over-the-range microwave. Had a new GE one installed, and I'm happy with the results. It has all the old features, plus a few new ones. It's working great.
