We replace our 3-year-old microwave with a model that had the control panel on the side instead of the door. Three service people told us that most of the current microwaves are not lasting as long as the old models. They notice a higher repair replacement in the units that have controls in the door as opposed to the side of the microwave. If you have a problem you have to replace the entire door, We bought this one due to the slate color matching the other three GE appliances installed in 2017. This unit has a lower investment cost. The unit has a good look with the other appliances, crisp design, and is easy to operate. Sensor buttons are stander popcorn Beverage, Reheat, etc Quick cook 1-9 and other features. So far it is exactly what we need. We got the warranty for $69 in case we need it. I would get a home warranty for everything in the kitchen and laundry as in today's world it seems repairs come more often than before. Typical service calls $80 to $110 plus labor/parts etc. Our experience with GE factory Service personnel was excellent and restored confidence in our purchasing decision. Back in the '60s, I worked for GE in Upstate NY @ their capacitor plants. I have confidence in GE's mission statement and the customer service is excellent.

Our old GE microwave was not heating up food the fastest anymore, we got this one at a great price. So far very pleased with it. Liking the features and how fast it heats our food.

Only had it less than 2 years and had to have service called in a couple of times. Have to put on edge of rotating plate to get it to warm up if at all. Now it doesn’t heat at all!
