For a family of seven, we rely on our appliances to work. I realize that things aren’t built to last like they used to be but you would expect a microwave to last longer than four years. Our previous one lasted for over 15 years. This ranks right up there with a flooded basement, a dead refrigerator, or a dishwasher that goes kaput. Now I have to hunt down a repair service that works on microwave appliances are no longer under warranty. That’s not what I would call taking care of your customers. Of course, I could’ve shelled out hundreds of dollars for an extended warranty because again, things aren’t built to last. Very disappointed.

This is the second time we have purchased this specific microwave. The first one was purchased a little over 2 years ago to replace a GE microwave we had over 12 years. EXCEPT for the fact that you can't see through the door (which is my biggest complaint), we were pleased with the operation...until it stopped working due to two fuses blowing. We contacted a local small appliance repair shop for replacement fuses and replaced the fuses and it worked for one day. The repair shop advised us that they have had to repair several of these microwaves with the same problem and it ended up being a defect in the door latches that resulted in the fuses blowing. We debated about having it repaired, but with the cost of the repair (which was almost as much as a new one) and with no guarantee we wouldn't have the same problem again, we decided to buy a new microwave. We went back to this same one, only because we needed a bisque color to match all our other appliances and this was the only one available in that color that would fit our space. We're hoping that GE has made some improvements so that we don't experience the same problem. We were also hoping they had changed the mesh "screen" on the door so you can see in, but they have not....a real inconvenience as far as I'm concerned.
