13.5" Rise
Enhances overall capture above the cooktop (BR)for more effective venting, particularly over tall stockpots.

30" Retractable Downdraft System
This 30-inch retractable downdraft vent rises 13.5 inches to help filter steam from tall stockpots, and remains flush with the cooking surface when not in use. The 585 CFM Motor Class ventilation system has the power to provide effective venting for most cooktops. The vent system is reversible to help fit in the cabinet space under the vent.

65,000 BTU Rating
Allows for installation above most 36 or 30-inch cooktops, including some commercial-style cooking surfaces.

Mesh Filters
Help keep the kitchen environment fresh and also provide proper filtration of grease and odors to help reduce contact with ceilings and countertops.

Retractable Downdraft Design
Provides a sleek, integrated ventilation solution by remaining flush with the countertop until needed, then rising high above the cooktop surface when turned on.

I bought this 2 years ago - it sat for 6 months before being installed (ie. wasn't used). A year after it was installed it broke down. The vent would rise but wouldn't stay up and would drop down again so you couldn't use it. As it was technically 18 months old it was outside of the warranty period. I had a Kitchenaid repair person fix it and replaced the armature motor, cover switch and another part (# W10421277). It worked again. I used the vent occasionally for another 4-5 months and now I'm having problems again. When I press the button the unit won't rise unless I continue to depress the button. It rises about 1/3 of the way and stalls. If I then continue to re-press the button many many times it will gradually inch it's way up. I have to stop pressing the button before it reaches the top (as it will then go down) but I have to press it for long enough so that it gets to the full extension so that the fan will then work. To get the fan to go back down I then have to press and gently hold the button down as if I stop so does the vent from going down. When the unit works it works well but it's been a pain in the neck. Not to mention the back as well since each time someone comes to repair it I have to disconnect it from the underfloor vent and lift out a very heavy and very awkward and bulky unit, not to mention refitting it again which is very challenging. The unit is expensive, the parts are expensive, the labour to repair it is expensive and its really not worth it. If it worked as it should then it would be great but it just doesn't.
